MBA Spirits students travel to Scotland
Every year our MBA spirits students from INSEEC Wine and Spirits institute come to London for an in-depth study of the Spirits Industry. They learn about the business side of the industry, get opportunities to network and tour some of the more famous distilleries in the world, including distilleries located in Speyside, Scotland, a renowned whisky producing region.
The trip to the Speyside countryside is one the most exciting parts of their programme here at INSEEC London. Over the course of several days, the Spirits students have the opportunity to meet some of the most influential whisky makers in the world and learn about the intricacies of the distillation process.
The tour is packed with hands-on learning opportunities. When the students arrive from flight from London to Aberdeen, the students are immediately whisked off through the beautiful Scottish countryside to the first of three tours to a range of famous distilleries.
They also get to see the entire whiskey making process from cask production all the way to bottling the final product. At the Speyside Cooperage, students are given practical demonstrations and even have a go at making their own miniature versions of casks.
The students were given tours of three differently sized distilleries and were shown how the mashing process, followed by distillation and maturation, eventually produce world class whiskies.
